Character Before Calling — Ps Karen Scharli — 27 Jan 2026

• God shapes character before releasing calling: Calling is discovered through intimacy with God and formed through character, not titles, hype or outward appearance. God cares more about who we are becoming than what we do.

• Character is revealed in private: Who we are when no one is watching matters deeply to God. Integrity, purity, honesty and consistency in the unseen places shape true discipleship and protect us from living a double life.

• Relationship with God comes before ministry: Calling flows from closeness with Jesus. Without intimacy, conviction fades and serving becomes performance. Doors may open through gifting, but only character keeps them open.

• Break people‑pleasing and become God‑pleasing: Living to keep everyone happy exhausts the soul. Freedom comes when we walk in truth, fear God more than people, and let His presence shape our decisions at home, work and church.

• Faithfulness in small things prepares us for greater responsibility: God tests character in everyday tasks — time with Him, family, work, finances and unseen acts of service. Private faithfulness precedes public calling and spiritual leadership.

• Trust God’s process of maturity: Character is forged over time through testing, obedience and wise choices. Like David, Joseph and Moses, believers grow through process, not shortcuts — allowing God to renew mindsets and build a life that stands the test of time.
