Acts 10: Grace Beyond Boundaries — Ps Karen Scharli — 26 Apr 2026

• Grace beyond boundaries: Acts 10 shows that God opens salvation to all people, breaking long‑held divisions and challenging believers to remove the invisible boundaries that keep others at a distance.

• Cornelius’ devotion and God’s preparation: Cornelius, a Roman centurion who feared God, prayed faithfully and gave generously. God responded to his heart and prepared Peter at the same time, arranging a divine appointment that would reshape the early church.

• Peter’s vision and renewed understanding: Through the rooftop vision of the sheet and animals, God teaches that no person is to be labelled common or unclean. Old categories of “acceptable” and “unacceptable” must give way to God’s inclusive grace.

• Obedience that crosses comfort zones: Peter steps into Cornelius’ home despite cultural discomfort, showing that obedience often requires crossing personal and social barriers. This simple act becomes a major turning point that opens the gospel to Gentiles.

• The Holy Spirit for everyone: As Peter shares about Jesus, the Holy Spirit falls on Cornelius and his household. They magnify God and receive the same gift given to Jewish believers, demonstrating that the Spirit is poured out on all who believe.

• Faith expressed through love and community: Acts 10 calls believers to step over judgement, pride and religious barriers, opening homes, tables and hearts so reconciliation, healing and genuine gospel community can flourish.
