Acts 11: Staying In-Step With The Holy Spirit — Ps Rainer Scharli — 3 May 2026

• A changed heart embraces God’s new direction: Acts 11 shows that when God moves in a new way, believers must be willing to let go of old assumptions and embrace change, even when it feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar.

• Peter explains God’s work among the Gentiles: Peter recounts his Acts 10 encounter, showing that God Himself initiated the inclusion of Gentiles. The vision, the Spirit’s instruction, and Cornelius’ angelic visitation all confirm that God was expanding His family.

• The Holy Spirit’s gift confirms God’s acceptance: When the Holy Spirit fell on Cornelius’ household just as He had on Jewish believers, it proved that God grants repentance and new life to all people, without requiring them to adopt old religious customs first.

• True unity breaks cultural and social barriers: Sharing meals and fellowship with people who are different becomes a powerful sign of God’s reconciling work. Acts 11 challenges believers to reject prejudice and welcome others as full members of God’s family.

• New wine needs new wineskins: Believers cannot rely on past experiences or old revelations. Staying in‑step with the Holy Spirit means being ready for fresh direction, fresh assignments, and fresh opportunities to reach people who are searching for truth.

• Growth comes through accountability and obedience: Peter travelled with witnesses, stayed under authority, and acted in faith. Acts 11 encourages believers to remain accountable, reject fear, trust God’s leading, and step boldly into the new things He is doing.
