• A Kingdom mentality shifts our focus: Having a Kingdom mindset completely transforms how decisions are made, where focus is placed, and how others are treated. It moves believers away from the self-focused perspective of the world and aligns them with God’s perspective through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
• Live as channels, not cisterns: True Christianity is an active lifestyle that directs our time, talents, and treasures outward to serve others. Instead of being stagnant cisterns that hoard blessings and become spiritually inactive, believers are called to be flowing rivers that bring life to the community.
• Embrace the New Covenant roles of kings and priests: Under the New Covenant, the roles of king and priest are united within the body of Christ (Revelation 5:9-10). Those with kingly influence steward resources wisely to bless others without shame, while those in priestly roles serve the community through worship, prayer, and ministry.
• Heart posture outweighs the amount given: When observing the treasury in Mark 12:41-44, Jesus looked past the large displays of the wealthy and focused on a poor widow’s true heart posture. Generosity begins with a heart that rejects fear or mental wrestling and completely trusts God as the ultimate source of security.
• Reject transactional prosperity teaching: Kingdom generosity is completely distinct from messages that exploit vulnerable people or treat God like a transaction. Believers do not give to purchase divine favour or manipulate a financial return, but out of deep love because God has already paid our debt and set us free.
• Generosity fuels the mission of the church: Financial giving extends far beyond simply covering church operational bills or maintaining facilities; it is an active participation in the mission to seek the Kingdom, teach the Word, and make disciples (Matthew 6:33). Moving from consumers to contributors allows believers to serve faithfully and see a lasting spiritual harvest in the community.
