Romans 4 — Ps Darrol Mullany — 19 Oct 2025

• Righteousness Comes by Faith, Not Works: Paul addresses tension in the early church and teaches that Abraham was made right with God through faith — not through law‑keeping, rituals or performance.

• Abraham’s Belief Was Credited as Righteousness: Just as credit is given, not earned, God credited righteousness to Abraham because he believed. This becomes the pattern for how all believers receive righteousness.

• Grace Is God’s Gift, Not Human Achievement: Salvation, righteousness and forgiveness cannot be earned. They come through God’s unmerited favour, so no one can boast or claim spiritual superiority.

• The Great Exchange Through Christ: On the cross, Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness. God now sees believers as holy and blameless in Christ — defined by His work, not their past.

• True Faith Produces Visible Fruit: As believers cultivate prayer, worship and the Word, righteousness expresses itself through right actions, attitudes and convictions — the outward fruit of an inward work.

• Hold Firm to God’s Promises: Like Abraham, believers are called to trust God beyond circumstances. Faith refuses to shrink back, remains fully persuaded of God’s ability, and receives His promises with confidence.
